Remembering Jerry Tucker, greyhound adopter
Today I went to a memorial celebration lunch for Jerry Tucker who died suddenly June 19. People remembered him as kind, a leader, a good listener, a good friend, a mentor, self-effacing, a good neighbor, an animal lover, a dear uncle, generous and he loved his greyhounds.
He and his wife Kathy lived a life filled with family, friends, volunteerism and travels.
I met Jerry and Kathy when we both started volunteering for greyhound rescue in the early 2000s. My relationship evolved with them as they both were staunch greyhound advocates. We had many intense conversations about greyhound welfare and our own greyhounds’ antics and health.
Not only was he a lover of greyhounds but rescued horses (Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary), wildlife, local animal issues and the Desert Museum.
He will always be remembered as a kind man with a big heart.
My condolences and <hugs> to Kathy and the hounds.
